The Prepper was a Halloween feature added around the same time the Renderman stuff was going on being just a floating ﾟДﾟ face that had a chance of appearing when you played dark maps. Prepper: not a myth but wanted to include it anyway. Despite this, its popularity stayed over the years, and even got his own add-on which spawned many "Renderman hunt" servers. The thread gained traction and people started posting their sightings and images (a good number of them now gone, sadly) however it wasn't long before it was clear the Renderman was just a hoax, mostly because of users' absurd narrative and inconsistencies in their stories, like it being able to corrupt the player's game or appearing in videos.
This figure was a black player model with a ﾟДﾟ ASCII face that would pop up from a distance if you took a screenshot, or show itself even closer via DOF screenshots (though the effect would blur him out). On september 2011, a thread popped up on the game's forum talking about an entity that could appear on in-game screenshots taken on dark/night maps. A -now unfortunately gone- youtube video showed a player using this method to teleport to a night version of the bedroom map. It has since become a very small meme in the community and even led people to compare it with Renderman.ĭrum Portal: almost no info on this one! Apparently it consisted on getting teleported by playing a certain song via the game's music block.
